Drylining finishing built for commercial programmes

Taping and jointing is a drylining finishing method that reinforces and finishes the joints between plasterboards. Tape is embedded into the joints, jointing compound is applied over seams, fixings, and angles, and the surface is sanded smooth ready for decoration.

Compared with traditional wet plaster, it is faster, cleaner, and uses less material. There is minimal moisture introduced into the building, which means earlier access for follow-on trades like painting and fit-out. On large commercial projects, that programme advantage adds up quickly.

Standard partition and ceiling work

Joint reinforcement, jointing compound application, and surface finishing on standard plasterboard partitions and ceilings. The default approach across most commercial fit-out, refurbishment, and new build projects.

Fire-board variants

Where fire regulations call for fire-rated boards, we work to the appropriate specification using the materials required for the rating. Particularly relevant on commercial projects where compartmentation, escape routes, or building regulations require certified fire performance.

Drywall priming

Where the same project includes painting and decorating, we prime the drywall boards ready for paint as a continuation of the same workflow, applied by spray for consistency and speed. Removes a handover, removes a delay, and keeps the finish quality consistent.

Finish levels to specification

Different projects call for different finish standards, from boards finished ready for basic decoration through to high spec finishes ready for sensitive lighting conditions. We work to the finish level specified for the project, agreed before work begins.

How we work

A structured sequence on every project

Taping and jointing on a commercial site has to fit around partition installers, M&E, and the trades coming in behind us. The sequence is built for that.

Site assessment and RAMS

Site-specific risk assessments and method statements agreed with site management before work begins. Coordination with partition and ceiling installers so our work follows their progress without holding up the programme.

Joint reinforcement

Tape embedded into joints, with jointing compound applied over seams, fixings, and internal angles.

Build-up and sanding

Successive coats of compound applied and sanded to the agreed finish level. Dust extracted at source during sanding to keep the working environment clean for adjacent trades.

Handovere areas

Surfaces inspected, snagging walked through with site management, areas left clean and ready for decoration, paint, or for the next trade.

Health and safety

Compliance built into every job

Site inductions, ongoing risk assessments, and full PPE are standard on every project. Dust extraction is used during sanding to maintain air quality on site, with air-fed respirator systems used where the working environment requires them. All operations comply with COSHH and wider construction safety standards.
